Theory of Relativity

Just yesterday I thought I had all the time in the world and now one day before army i'm trying to find time to do stuff.

I was so free yesterday that I decided to visit some friends at their workplaces. Went to Marina Square but couldn't find Edmund's funny restaurant where he's a kitchen assistant so I decided to look for Christabel at her donut shop at Raffles City. I found her alright, but had to queue 1 hour for a donut! Apparently there was this lady in front who ordered like 10 boxes/60 donuts, thereby causing us to wait forever, plus the donuts were made on the spot. Along the way I made friends with the auntie standing behind me and the elderly couple in front of me. That's how long we queued..

Haha. But it was quite fun lah. This ang moh tourist also talked to me but he left the queue after 10 minutes. Finally I reached the front of the line and Christabel only spotted me when it was her turn to serve me (that's how busy they were). Her jaw dropped. I ordered a double chocolate donut. It was good, especially after queueing for so long. :) The chocolate was dripping all over the place.

Well.. none of this workplace visiting in the near future as I visit Singapore's busiest barbers tomorrow. Going to SAJC later to say my final farewells to my juniors. I'm going to miss JC.. and civilian life. But it's going to be an exciting phase nevertheless. New people, new look, new environment, new challenges. I resolve not to spew a single expletive no matter how compelling the environment is.

Ok, i'll be out around the 25th. Take care good friend. :)

and the preparation goes on..

Exercised for 3 consecutive days since the jogging incident.. Maybe there's a teeny bit of muscle coming out. Haha.

Went back to SAV on Friday to collect stuff from the office. I was overwhelmed by nostalgia man.. :) Really miss school. Rotting at home really sucks. Ms Ho was crazy as ever and Mr Peter Soh popped by the office too. Great to see my inspirational Econs teacher! Hardworking Elissa was doing maths.. Haha. Saw John Chew, Kenny, JJ and (Helmet-head) Mindy too but didn't get to talk much. Never mind.. will be going down on Wed. Yay!

My next adventure saw Jeremy Chan and I go climb Bukit Timah hill. Woohoo! Super fun man. We took like 15 mins to find the hill itself.. Stuck in the little isolated corner with a lot of monkeys roaming around. Tried to get educational and surveyed the exhibits for a while. I wanted to see a pangolin coz they had this stuffed pangolin exhibit, but all those little guys must be full of cotton wool already.

We planned for a 3 hour hike up and down but hello.. we reached the summit in half an hour. That was a great boost to our pre-enlistee morale. haha. Saw lots of flora and fauna.. a snake, monitor lizard, some bird-of-prey and squirrels all over the place. The ants there are gargantuan!

The steepest slope was the first one where all the strong old folks were walking down the hill backwards (it's easier than walking forward). Apparently we took the shortest path (red), contributing to the quick ascent and there was nothing much to see at the summit so we decided to immerse ourselves in a quick preview of what army life would be like-in the jungle.

In the 2 hours we spent trekking in the thick undergrowth (a bit drama..) the stairs was the worst part. Oh man.. They are extremely vertical and never-ending. And I was nursing that little muscle pull at the left hip so going down sent little jolts of pain bolts flying around. The best way to climb Bukit Timah hill stairs is to walk sideways like a crab.

Then came the fun jungle part where the paths were filled with mud, steep, slippery and you keep walking into spider webs. For periods of time we were the only visible people in that section of the jungle man.. just imagine how vulnerable we were to murderers and rapists. :) but we survived and ran into a bunch of Temasek Primary kids who followed us around. There was this ulu path with a fallen tree that we took that led to a road with electrical posts. Yes we followed the road with the bunch of kids behind us and ended up snooping around in private property. Haha.

Unfortunately all the streams we came across were a bit like longkangs.. but the water looked refreshing. The most scenic area was the quarry where we spotted the monitor lizard. According to someone's calculations the quarry's going to overflow in 2008. I'm so going back to witness that. Lunch was at the Sarawak Kolo mee shop recommended by some show on channel 5. It's really good man.. especially after wandering around in the wilderness and stretching those legs. The soup rocks but the prices were a little steep.

I'm aiming to find the HSBC Treetop walk next, anyone on? :)

Went to Cheuk's house to swim on Saturday. As usual Momo was about an hour late due to uncontrollable gastronomic habits and Bert was at his house watching him. Cheuk got some Manchester United air freshners for us. Haha. Straight from the Man U stadium. Nice. Once again we stood in awe of Hubert's body shape as all the bones and six-pack showed. It's ok.. The army will feed him.

Momo was climbing the little waterfall at the jacuzzi and we kept on pushing him off like a beached whale. Haha. The splashes were unusually huge. And I cannot believe we were going to NS.. splashing water at each other like 6 year old kids. But anyway we went to play at the slide too, so whatever.. The slide is still fantastic. All of us came zooming down with a splash.. All except.. You guessed it.. Hubert. :) Our funniest friend sat down on the slide when you're suppoed to lie down and got stuck halfway. After that he was using his arms to drag himself down, just refusing to lie down.

Bert went to be a genius a blocked the whole slide the second time round sp no one could go down. We just rammed into him and the whole bunch of us were stuck there, creating a dam and flash floods. Next up: Wild Wild Wet.

Took a break from exercies when I attended my little cousins birthday party. Somehow the kids started assaulting me in the bedroom and I barely escaped to the living room where all their parents were. The whole bunch stooped the assault reluctantly after parental persuasion. So I was sipping my grass jelly and resting for a moment when my youngest cousin came and started pulling me to go to the room, trying to be really nice. Suspecting an ambush I asked him,

Me: "Will you do anything to me if I go into the room?"
Cousin (in a cute voice): "No"
Me: "How about the rest of them?"
Cousin: "Hmm..**pause** Yes they will"

I am fortunate to have higher educational qualifications than them so far..

So while I prepare to let my brain decay for 2 years I got a new non-camera phone, shampoo, soap and facial foam (new generation fighting force with facial foam), a padlock, hangers. 3 days to go.

shien: Se!!Fuji's not bad what. Tim, Ed and I are supposed to go to Genting one day. Maybe we can all take a detour and have a class outing to Switzerland to relive the Patsy Neo days. :) And yes i'm thrilled that i'll be suffering physically and people are going to shout at my face. Haha. See you around the week of Feb 11th. :) (and lend me the abs book)

jojo: Jojo!!! Yes, Merry very belated new year too you. I miss you man! Got something for you from Venice, think you'll like it. Haha. :) When you've explored the area give us a tour next time k. And isn't it in the middle of the night right now in Seattle? Carry an umbrella with you when you go out. :)
