Friday, June 16, 2006 Father's day 16/6/06 Oh man! It's Father's day and my father's birthday today! What a conincidence.. Although it's been like this for him for the past 17 years. Plus the fact that I didn't realize it till I was about 4? Take a few years off. Isn't it wonderful this day that we have here. Let's read: Exodus 20:12 “Honour your father and your mother: that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.” http://www.jba.gr/Articles/jba2004_06.htm (Of course honouring your parents for the sake of long life isn't honouring them at all lah.. I think will die even faster) Sometimes I really do need to work on honouring my parents. I've got a long way to go.. but it'll naturally fall into place by keeping the greatest commandment: Matthew 22:37 "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind" If I love my Father whom I can't see, won't I naturally love my father whom I can see.. It takes an extra leap of faith for the invisible. Hope can steal off some time from Famine camp to go to church.. Want to go to every miracle service from now on. My sister just returned from the United Kingdom. AAHHAHH!!! So fun. My home felt a tad (x20) empty while she wasn't here.. She got some stuff from over there which rocks! Haha! I got this Brasil t-shirt which i'm so going to wear on the 20th of June when we're going to Lilian's place for World Cup camp!!! Although Brazil isn't playing then.. Haha. Oh yeah.. love the Brasil t-shirt. It's the first t-shirt in my life that brought a smile to my face the second I saw it, (Usually i'm quite indifferent when it comes to fashion) England's through!! Wooh!!! And. The cookies and biscuits she brought back.. Are from cookie heaven. Khong Guan! Bow down! "These digestive biscuits make you forget you're full."- Me to my sister after dinner There's this slab of chocolate covering the digestive biscuit which feels cold on the tongue even though it's kept at room temperature. Two packs of ginger cookies brought back childhood tastebud memories. This is life man Dorcas! Another thing that's life is friendships. Adriana, my classmate who sat in front of me when we were sec 3 recently told me: "I didn't waste one year sitting in front of you." Woohoo!! That's something fantastic to hear after one and a half years apart (she went to the US to get a degree.. Haha.) But it got me thinking. Have I ever wasted one year sitting beside someone else? a ranting by Eugene at 5:05 PM Monday, June 12, 2006 Welcome Home!! Ok maybe I wanted to put "Worldcupping!!" as my title but my juniors are more important. So a very special and probably exhausted group of youngsters touched down at Changi Airport at 6am today. They had their fun, some peace I hope, international exposure and the usual problems. But most of all.. they're back! (Btw.. they're showing the world cup at the airport!! But it's in the passenger lounges I think. Darn..) Heard of a scandal or 2 unfolding on the Western shores of Australia, i'm sure Reagan has a load of stuff to update us on. Lilian's place soon. Now let's focus on the event that has been gripping homo sapiens from all walks of life for the past 3 days. The only event on Earth so far that can cause half a country to take sick leave.. (next it'll be Bird Flu) and raise the demand for plasma TVs in just one month. Oh yes.. the World Cup is here!! Let's sum up my recent world cup exploits so far.. 2002 Experienced the Final with Germany vs Brazil and decided that Oliver Kahn was the greatest goalkeeper in my microscopic football knowledge then 10th June 2006, 2am Sprawled on Lilian's sofa with fellow crazy people at Lilian's house deciding that Jens Lehmann still pales in comparison to Kahn. Germany will go far in the tournament. 10th June 2006, 4am Poland CMI 10th June 2006, 11pm What in the world is England doing man?! More entertained by the chicken wings on the table. 11th June 2006, 11pm Serbia and Montenegro's defence is solid. Prefers home-viewing to Kopitiam viewing. Iran and Mexico are drawn 1-1 as I type.. not that i'm a fan.. It all started when an innocent little kid at sec 2 saw Oliver Kahn save that goal.. The continuity to catch WC 2006 was rooted unto him. So he gathered a group of 4 atmospere-lifters-Momo Tan, Ho Lilian, Lee Cheuk Yin and himself, congregating in a comfortable home at Farrer armed with cow cheese cubes, yakitori, apple chips and some alcohol. (It cost 40 bucks man!! $10 each.. Super ex.) The rewards came.. 3 goals in 17 mins, 8 goals in 2 matches. And a whole load of suaning Momo from Cheuk and Big boss Ho. Oh man! It rocks to watch the world cup with the usuals. Now with Jeremy, bert, Jojo and cross-fingers Reagan back from the bench.. it's going to be chaos! Btw.. Lilian, the frozen mango thing and one Jolly Shandy's still left in the fridge (if no one ingested it between then and now). Before a match you could try catching She's the Man. Out in cinemas now. It's hilarious! haha. They stick should-not-be-stuckable things up noses to control nose bleeds. =) 4.5 stars! Next up is power packed Germany-Ecuador, England-Sweden, Holland-Argentina, Portugal-Mexico 2 day camp. 3 days if Czech Republic-Italy, Japan-Brazil is included. Study!! And there's famine camp.. Dorcas, we have to arrange that buffet breakfast. June's going to be the most enjoyable month of the year yet. =) a ranting by Eugene at 12:29 AM |
