Whirlwind week

Oh yeah.. Eventful's the adjective to describe the week so far. The year is coming to an end and my bus fare's going to skyrocket soon. Better cram more local traveling into my schedule.

Well, it all started with a tearful goodbye to Jojo on Tuesday. Not literally but definitely inside. 11pm was the meeting time for Mo, Jeremy, JJ, Bert and Me at the control station, just a little bit early taking into account Jojo's 6am flight. Haha. Being the Kopitiam kids we are $20 on a cab there at 2am would be a killer. Bumped into Nich, Red, Janice and Daniel soon after.

With 4 hours before the Princess of the hour arrived the tooter was desperately craving for a game of bridge or two, the only problem being the absence of cards in our possession. The mind responds brilliantly when it is pushed to the corner and a stroke of genius from Momo saw many a "Uniquely Singapore" brochure disappear from the tourist information booth and reappear as 52 playing cards from Ace to King. Janice had a nice deck made out of foolscap paper too.

I still have the deck in case of future emergencies.

Here came a radiant Jojo at 2am while everyone was still relatively awake. Like father like daughter man. Look like Peter Soh also. Haha. We managed a couple of photos and conversations before demand outstripped supply. Guess there wasn't much we needed to say too, Jo was a blessing to the whole bunch of us. :)

As usual last minute spontaneous acts popped out when Mo and I started using the feedback forms as final farewell cards for out dear friend. Haha. We are jokers man. Hope my handwriting was not too illegible and smudgy..

Ooh.. i'm chatting with Jojo now. First time since she's been sleepless in Seattle.

With the largest fan club that morning time was running out for our adventurer to say her goodbyes. Fortunately we had the time for a prayer and I know that the next chapter of the perfect plan has just begun. With feedback forms in hand Mo and I bade farewell to our American buddy and plastered ourselves to the glass window as Jojo entered the restricted zone. Waving arms were all over til she disappeared out of sight. Turning around, crestfallen faces said it all. Wo men dou shou le da ji. Haha. But our wonderful sister had gone off to pursue a brighter future ahead frought with dangers and triumph. Emmanuel.

It took longer than usual for us to come up with the next course of action and that saw us eventually settling down at the viewing mall playing hearts with a real deck this time. The rest were sprawled on a bench and the floor, with Janice in the foetal position shivering in my sleeping bag. Jojo's plane came into view at about 6am and up it went just as JJ was losing the game of hearts. Haha. A silent goodbye emanated from my heart.

This was the drama marking the beginning of Jojo's travels.

First time I slept from 10am to 5pm.

The pilot test greeted me on Wednesday morning as I got a lift from Samuel's father together with Vincent to arrive at CMPB just in time for breakfast. Just as Ben said, none of the guys there were in spectacles and I don't know what got in me to wear Temasek PE shorts there. Haha. Super cold!!!

Wearing my SAJC band jacket for probably the 3rd time it came in really handy as I shivered my way through 5 hours. There was a computer in each cubicle with a joystick and another pad with some buttons on the table.

It was all about testing reaction speed, psychomotor skills/ hand-eye-foot coordination and handling pressure. Phew there were some tense moments in that cubicle. The guy in the cubicle to my left was spewing vulgarities through some parts of the test. Haha.

My worst performance was getting 2/10. :) It's this simulator thing where you're supposed to control the joystick and fly through a series of continuous squares in the sky. Oh man.. so here came the squares and I went under, then over, to the left and then the right, anywhere but through the squares. Haha. Ultra-sensitive joystick we had there.

The best part of the test was the Oreo and Milo. Haha. I wasn't expecting that.

So the test results will be out in 3 weeks..

Thursday and Friday rocked! :)

Went out with Ed, Sam and Weldon for a movie, pool and dinner. Long time no see Sam and Weldon man. Another moment of spontaneity saw us deciding to sleepover at Weldon's place. Here came the embarrassing moment of the night when Edmund tried to alight from the MRT at Eunos but we thought otherwise. Oh man.. the big guy made a run for the door with Weldon and Sam reigning him in with all their strength. He stayed in at Eunos together with stares from the whole train staying in with us. Darn.. Anyway Edpork escaped at Kembangan and walked all the way home.

At Weldon's, enthusiastic Sam was the first one to KO when we were watching Pirates of the Carribean at 2am. And Weldon's bed is still fantastic! It's just so nice to sleep on. Apparently his friend who is a girl told him that "I like to sleep on your bed". Haha.

We arose at 12pm the following day.. Fantastic time to wake up. Headed to Settlers opposite Katong mall for lunch. That place rocks! It's a dining place with a free flow of board games that you've never known existed. Wooh I love Risk! My alliance with Sam paid off as I conquered Australia and Europe while he got Asia and drove Edmund and Weldon to a corner in America and Africa. I am so going back to Settlers.

The whirlwind week is concluding so far with Qatar beating Iraq 1-0 and a whole load of Qatari and Iraqi footballers rolling around the field.

I'm so glad that BCF is taking off. :) Not by might, not by power, but by the Spirit of God!

Screwed up biological clock

Wooh.. out of 7 days in a week I spent 4 days away from home and kept late nights for the remaining 3. Ginas like me shouldn't be doing this man.. Better watch my sleep patterns. Apparently I "breathe a tad too loudly" when I sleep, as observed by my juniors. Must be the blocked nose..

I need to be wiser at times.

Well, my class reunions were a blast. Especially my primary 6 Bedok View Primary one. Woohoo! I haven't seen some of them since taking bus no. 9 home after collecting my PSLE results 6 years ago. That's like one third of my life! After 6 years we're still as crazy as ever, no awkward moments and the class was very encouraging.

Had dinner at Cafe Cartel Tamps and I became the maid, Mario, coz I was sitting closest to the free flow of bread and was spreading butter like crazy. The honour of the slowest eater also went to me.. I'm definietly growing out of puberty.

K-box is out to qiao their customers!

Dinner was followed by pool at Marine Parade-my first time. Yes.. there were some embarassing moments. Haha. The stick hit the lamp ah.. Accidentally touching the balls before I hit anything and missing like crazy. But applause rang with every ball sent down the holes. They rock man.

With the guys bracing ourselves to serve the nation the opportunities to meet up would definitely diminish. This is something to cherish for a long time to come, till we meet again.

Played soccer with 2/4 guys at Siglap CC too. Fortunately it was street soccer.. Otherwise we'd be half dead at the end of it. I missed out on the BBQ and stemboat though.. choices come with an opportunity cost and I went exercising with the maternal side of my family. Woohoo.. my cousin-in-law and I were doing rounds around this playground in bedok and at 30 he's fitter than me. I better start training for NS.

Anyway, i've just jumped up a generation and am now known as uncle Eugene. My cousin gave birth today to a baby girl: Clarissa. My kid cousins who are between 5 to 7 years of age are also uncles and aunties and are getting disturbed over the fact. Haha. They just can't grapple with the idea that they're uncles and aunties at this age. Looks like the uncles, aunties and niece will be fighting over the remote control soon.

Oh yeah, Arsenal drawed with Chelsea! Man U is smiling.

Anyway, Reagan's botak right now, Cheuk's in Europe, Tim's in Malaysia and Jojo's flying tonight. Oh man.. one by one holiday fun activity options are drying up.

Look to eternity man.
