Big screw up

Apparently, I just screwed up something very important. Hopefully everything will be fine tomorrow and on monday.

Going back in time, learning fest day 1 was a major screw up too. But who cares man? These people did a perfect job on day 2 and everyone left as an official member of SAJC Junior Band. That just proves that with a correct focus and attitude we can rock the house man. I did twinkle twinkle little star on the cornet! Woohoo! Hopefully the video and photos are all uploaded. Great job Jeremy! =)

Can't stand it..

SAJC band is just so HIP! Unfortunately I can't leak out the juicy details on why we're so hip coz it's our secret project.. =)
Compared to TWE 03 I definitely miss the fun part, American Riversongs Band was the ultimate! Too bad we couldn't stay together for long. *TWE alumni, I appeal to you to go back and help your juniors, just learnt that that's how St. Pat's revives the band when the sec 4s leave.

Anyway, back to SAJC.. Learning fest is such a useful tool in expanding our horizons. Some typical spoilt brats will just waste their choices and pon their courses but that's their loss.

Salsa is HOT man! The dance I mean. It's soo fun! I may sound very ignorant here, but the guy is actually leading the girl throughout the whole dance and it's not choreographed. I'm such an idiot at dance. Haha. So cool lah! To do a basic you actually have to give a nudge with your left hand to your partner's hand. To do a sideward step your right hand nudges your partners waist to your right. For turns just raise up your hands at either the 2nd or 6th quaver. Ahh! Such communication! It's like a secret code only Salsa dancers know. And Ada complimented me saying i'm good at giving the subtle signal thing! Wooh! But honestly I can't dance for coconuts..

Went with Jojo Kawi! Was so excited the night before we even colour coded with the maroon saints shirt. The class was small, think a quarter of the participants didn't turn up. Wasted opportunities to lead a more meaningful life.. Quite expectedly there were only 2 guys-Stuart and me. That makes me the only guy there who can't dance. Severely numerically outnumbered 2 to 12, some ladies had to assume their greatest nightmare and became guys, and we would rotate partners after every few steps.

Ok.. in the beginning it was quite weird to hold Jojo's hand but eventually we were doing the basics and leftwards. Think we were the most cartoon pair there, always not listening and turning at the wrong places, but at least no one got throbbing purple feet at the end of it.

Then the challenge came. At first I was rotated to Ada, and being so tall and all I was quite intimidated. Ada still wanted to intro to me who she was. Haha. But it went quite smoothly and there went 123ing ad 567ing. Every other girl after that was not known to me till that crazy day and I could actually identify their characters while dancing with them. The experiences were: Hi^5s! Scary! Neutral. Proud. The best(encouraging)! Vertically disproportinate. Weird. Yup. I think i'm described as:
unstable.
But salsa really made my day after being so pissed and all. =)

Badminton was boring so Jojo, Andrew, his friend and I entertained ourselves by shouting a type of food before hitting the shuttle over. Basically went like this:

"Char Kuay Teow!"
"Tock!"
"Hokkien Mee!"
"Tock!"
"Char Siew Pau!"
"Tock!
"Tock!"
"Shit! I forgot to say!"

Ended off with a vibrating right arm and cramping legs.

Stress release was a piece of crap. We just went there and started laughing when the guy asked us to focus on this and that muscle and everyone started dozing off. It became a 40 min sleeping session and Dorcas left the room coz she couldn't stop laughing.. Haha. Wasted one option.

Learning fest was a blast! Band workshop and Salsa rule the world! Hope our juniors 2 years later will improve on the band one. =)

Confirmed pieces for Junior Band Fest are:
1. Theme from 'Jag'
2. Shenandoah (oh yeah!)
3. Beauty and the Beast
4. Copacabana

Looking forward to JBF so that our batch can finally work together musically. We really have so many opportunities to inject life into the mundane education system, accomplished learning fest, secret project on the way, JBF, open house(?), tune-in, SAJC Concert(?), Saints Concert. Keep the flame burning brightly ever!

I pray that 'that' will not happen.

I pray that i'll know whether the other 'that' should happen.

I thank God for Reagan! =)

Pissed!

Yar.. In no mood to do anything productive now. It had the potential to be such a good day! I was experienceing the joy of watching my juniors rehearse, saw the sec 1s preparing for Junior Band Fest and when I went a whole way back I got a cavalier attitude. Should have burned the freaking scores and spent my 2 hours at twe. Anyway, thanks for the help Jiaxin! Really efficient. =)

The enthusiasm I wanted to put across tomorrow just faded away into flames. Let's hope the Salsa will neutralise the desire to whack something. If the backbone doesn't even want to give it's best all the time I wonder why the rest should even try.

Imagine you are a chef working in a restaurant. A food critic who can determine the existance of your restaurant with a tick of some stars would be coming along a month later to publish his perceived standard of your restaurant(or the lack of it).

Criteria is:
1)Food
2)Ambience
3)Service
4)Unknown

What changes would you make to your restaurant, food etc. to make sure you get a raving review?

Ans will be out after my committee meeting that I hopefully can hold this sat.

Where I am now is like dengue fever. It just keeps on fluctuating. One day I think we're doing fine and another day I find major nonsense happening around.

Enough of the ranting.

Ooh! Tomorrow's learning fest! Haha. Signed up for badminton, stress release (which would come in very handy right now), maths and movies and SALSA! Woohoo! Haha. Really excited by the Salsa one. Mojo Jojo Kawi's my dance partner. Now, will I end up dancing with Stuart? Oh yar, thanks for the consoling Jojo and Jeremy, although I'm still fuming. Reagan.. don't start.

Something else to be high about! Reza's coming to SA! Wooh! Can't believe it lah! More and more temasekians are taking the unconventional path. Dance is so going to rock even more with ppl like him over there. Dance and Band Alliance is slowly being formed with the new batch. Anyway, Rapture rocked the theatre down! Got goosebumps during the SYF dance. Felt the ballet and Jubilant thing was not bad too. And the NUS guy! Woah! He just went spinning and spinning and spinning.. Save for the parts where Salahuddin was blocking my view being so tall and all, I had a blast! Naturally, being high as a result of the concert we did stupid things.
Haha. Jojo, Xiuli and I tried to walk to Suntec and after trudging through long grass and a multitude of anglers it was right smack in front us! Separated by the Kallang River. Oh.. the pain of walking all the way back and turning right instead of left..

But racing up the indoor stadium steps was fun. =)

Started our first day as SAJC band made up of J1s only. It was a fantastic start, much better than I expected. =) Received quite mature thought about what everyone wants the band to be in the end. That leaves me thinking. I haven't asked them about the process.. Hmm. Note down.

Interesting points:
1)No gossip!
2)Do away with ostracizing!
3)Down with complacency!

Usual stuff:
1)Musical Excellence
2)Strong bonds
3)Fun and beautiful memories

Very popular quote:
Leave the band in a better state than you found it. -David Glosz

My own principles:
1)Professionalism (from TWE)
2)Efficiency (from TWE)
3) Love (most important of all!)
4)Trust ( from SAJC)
5)Understanding (from SAJC)

Oh man.. I'm talking to Cui Yin now and I'm having the time of my life! Haha. Miss her so much lah! And she's using adjectives such as "anal". We're like going to have bassoon exchanges, talking about the farewells in SA and TJ, about the sucky exams, trying to taupok Mr Peh. Wish she was still in SA. But she's gone to greener pastures (literally) and we're going to rock our colleges alike coz we're the SAJC bassoon section 05! Woohoo!

Oh yar! Happy Bursday to Jules and Hui Qing!

Ok, enough of being high.

I commit SAJC band into God's hands.

I pray that all the birthday ppl will have a fruitful year ahead.

I commit TWE into God's hands. =)
