Miracle Service

was awesome..

The miracle service is a healing service conducted in my church, Lighthouse Evangelsim. There are two church branches aka healing centres, one in Tampines and one in Woodlands. From the inception of the service about a decade ago till today there hasn't been one service where no one received healing and the healing experienced are literally miraculous.. Like a feeling of warmth then all the pain disappears kind of thing.

(To find out more about the miracle service visit www.lighthouse.org.sg and read the testimonies too)

Now people are not only being healed but they're even seeing angels and Jesus himself. I'm not one of the privileged ones to have their spiritual eyes opened but I trust the sudden whole group of people who have been having supernatural revelations.

Hey the angels were sitting on the stage lights and glass windows of the Sanctuary and by the side of every sick person being prayed for, wings and all. This guy wondered if Jesus could fly and Jesus actually appeared on the spot and said he didn't fly. And He went around touching the sick and they got healed.

This Malaysian lady named Allie was the first one to experience this and she actually helped Jesus pass messages to some of the sick, advising certain individuals to watch their diet, go for a blood test and medical check-up etc.

Allie also saw what Heaven was like and all the events that happened from Genesis to Revelation appeared to her. I want to see Noah's ark, Goliath and the Revelations part!!

Another lady named Josephine was sceptical about the whole thing and thought everyone was mad but an angel appeared to her in her house in the form of a flash of light and told her that since she didn't believe Allie saw angels in church, the angel visited her at her doorstep

Imagine meeting an angel in your HDB flat.

Anybody needs healing.. you know where to go.

HOLIDAYS ARE HERE!!!

Wooh!! Yay yay yay!! Let's jump around and celebrate!

Ok.. except for the fact that i'll be spending my hols studying like Jason Fox, it still sounds better than going to school.

Top 5 things to look forward to:
1)World Cup!!!
2)Church Camp
3)Famine Camp
4)X-Men 3 and Over the Hedge
5)Sleeping normal hours

Oh yes oh yes!! This refresher comes just as hang in the balance of going to be penged. It's such a joyous feeling and a huge relief to know that you can wake up after 7am and not be caught by anyone for late-coming, forced to sit for a useless whole period outside the general office. (Honestly, this 'punishment' has no corrective value) Anyway I had fun reading my newspaper while waiting for 45 minutes of my life to pass on tuesday morning.

Relief also flows through my veins coz I just finished all my SPA exams forever in my life. This useless assessment has no educational value, where Bio skill A is pure memorisation of a whole experiment comprising 11 components and vomiting everything out onto a piece of foolscap paper during the exam.

You're supposed to design your own experiment but you end up stuck in the pit of rote learning all over again..

I tore up my Skill A SPA notes and scattered the little bits of confetti-like remnants into the nearest dustbin I could find. Had a campfire been nearby powdery paper ashes would have risen to the sky.

What in the world is MOE thinking man??!! Who's the smart alec who introduced SPA!!! It does nothing to educate the student and only raises our already high blood pressure. The bigshots of education should personally attempt the exam to understand the frustration of us consumers of education. Hey I sound like an immature brat who doesn't appreciate the joy education brings me, but my frustrations stem from School-based Practical Assessments (esp Skill A) having no educational value(therefore it shouldn't belong in the education system). Nil, zero, non-existant. Even skill D is pure regurgitation and skill B, C or whatever is so inaccurate that students end up faking their answers just to get the "correct" graph.

Sounds like Hwang Woo-Suk. Maybe this will give our nation some training in producing a 'scientist' as famous as him in the future. =)

SPA should be abolished.. and throw in PW too. Again the noble ideals of PW are not being achieved in the real world. Hello.. it's a waste of time. I conducted a poll of about 8 classes and 7.5 agreed that PW had no benefit to their life in anyway at all. Educators.. you have to be a student to understand the frustrations that we face in the education system.

Of course our Education Minister (affable Mr. Tharman) and friends would never experience what we go through coz the red carpet is rolled out for them everytime they visit a school. Principals etc. also activate their "Welcome Welcome, it's an honour to have you here" mode. Add in a nice big smile (real or fake) for effect.

Save the stressed up Singaporean JC student.

But let's be grateful here. Although the education I get is screwed up in the 2 ways above.. At least I get an education. I thank God for that. =)

Recently, my blog's been depicting the dysfunctional side of growing up in Singapore. To that some credit could go to mr brown. Visit www.mrbrown.com to examine why. And while you're at it take a go at the podcast on "No more bird" and Tur Kwa. Oh man.. they cracked me up in class along with half the male population in 05S61. (some liguistic skill geared towards Hokkien would be useful-maybe you could get translators in the form of elders fluent in Hokkien)

My beloved J1s are going to Perth in a week.. Karma Chalets, Kangaroos and all.

"Where the bloody hell are we?"

Yes we're coming over with our nice tourist dollars in 7 days.

Wish I was going. But it doesn't matter.. Actually nothing temporal here matters. Only that which stands throughout the eternal sands of time will matter and i'm trying to put those things at the forefront of my life.

Bon Voyage J1s. I love your batch. =)

Results day

Oh goody.. today's the day the council election results are announced. Hope people who can actually lead get elected.

I do not make unsupported false statements so let me elaborate.
Upon surveying the ground and seeking the opinions of commonfolk in SAJC, i've got startling results from all walks of life running the gamut from J1s, J2s and even alumni.

Top reasons cited on poor candidature:
Many J1s are wannabes
-They want the "status"
-They want to belong somewhere
-They have no other CCA to join
-They want something that looks nice in their resume

I've got comments that some of them are very insecure people. Most of these reasons all centre around the"self". That's why they call it self-centeredness. Come on.. how many nominees actually want to serve the college after they become councillors. They promise you the moon while campaigning, provide toilet paper on tables, paste signs of their faces on every smooth surface, act stupid at the request of the electoral audience and give out freebies.

Give me a break.. all these techniques are super superficial.

How many councillors actually work for the interests of the student body after they get the post. I ask my J2 councillor friends to speak up for the students when we're in sucky situations or propose stuff to the school to improve the school culture but nothing is done. The Student centre even looks like a pig's sty on some days. Singaporeans don't accept election carrots as seen from the elections so it's a proven ineffective method of campaigning.

A female alumni member of SAJC told me this:

The council nominee who cleans up the cafe everyday without fail would get her vote.

The person's sincerity on caring for the students is more than exemplified by that. Being a leader is about being a servant. Every council nominee should ask themselves:

"What concrete evidence have I shown to the school so far, in my actions, that undeservingly entitles me to be a leader of the Saints?"

I bet everyone would lose hands down to the person who cleans up the cafe everyday without fail.

My juniors told me that in the elections in their particular house there was no one at all, whom they saw as outstanding.

I think weak councillors are cheapening my image of the council.

Anyway, a little tint of positive stuff.. Mrs Helen Tan rocks! She's the leader I respect the most in this college. She sincerely cares for the students and fortunately doesn't have that air of self-centeredness around her that some other people/person (use your own discretion to determine their identities) have..

Finally, let me reiterate that..

J1 councilors. If you are a wannabe, please quit your CCA and save the school some frustration.
